‘Rudra’ means Shiva and ‘Aksha’ means tears. It means Shiva’s Tears. When Lord Shiva opened his eyes after a long time, his tears fells upon the earth, and wherever those tears fell, a rudraksha tree was formed. The rudraksha beads are the seeds within the rudraksha fruits which open up by themselves, when placed in water. Rudraksha trees are mostly found in Nepal, India, Burma, and Indonesia.
According to the Hindu mythology (Shiv Purana), just chanting the name of Rudraksha, gives the benefit of donating 11 cows (Gau Daan). Cows being holy creatures as per Hinduism, donating a cow is considered an act of higher ascension and cleansing of karmas- a charity of the highest accord in Hinduism.

Panch Mukhi rudraksha should be worn on Sunday morning after taking a bath and wearing clean clothes, and put the Rudraksh bead in some water from the holy Ganges (Ganga Jal) or simply in clean water for some time. Thereafter, clean it with soft hands through a neat cloth, energize the bead by chanting “Om Kleem Namah” and wear it on the neck in white or silver thread.
Recite the mantra 108 times “Om Hreem Namah” before wearing Five-Faced rudraksha.
